Every IPTV provider claims to be the best in the UK, including us. So instead of another “top 10” list, here’s something more useful: a scorecard you can use to rate any provider yourself, based on the things that actually affect your viewing.
It’s weighted the way most viewers would weight it. Reliability matters far more than the number of channels, and support matters more than a few pounds on the price.
In fairness: We’re an IPTV provider, so we have an obvious interest here. That’s exactly why we’d rather you score us with the same card as everyone else.
The scorecard
| Category | What you’re scoring | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Reliability | Does it hold up at peak times? | 30 |
| Support | How fast, how helpful, what hours? | 20 |
| Lineup | Is everything included on every plan? | 15 |
| Picture quality | Real 4K, sharp HD, quick channel changes | 10 |
| Setup help | Guides for your device, help when stuck | 10 |
| Fair terms | Refund window, no hidden auto-renewal | 10 |
| Price | Fair price for what you get | 5 |
| Total | 100 |
Here’s how to score each category.
Reliability (30 points)
This is the one that matters most. A service that freezes during the moments you care about isn’t worth having at any price.
How to test it: Watch during a genuinely busy time, such as Saturday at 3pm or a big evening event. Leave a popular channel running for at least 30 minutes.
| What you see | Points |
|---|---|
| No freezing or buffering at all | 30 |
| One or two brief pauses that recover by themselves | 20 |
| Regular buffering, but watchable | 10 |
| Freezes, drops out or won’t load | 0 |
Bonus check: Does the provider publish an uptime figure and say where their servers are? If not, take off 5 points.
Support (20 points)
When something goes wrong, the speed and quality of support decides whether it’s a two-minute fix or a ruined evening.
How to test it: Send a simple setup question before you buy, ideally in the evening or at the weekend.
| What happens | Points |
|---|---|
| A helpful human reply within 5 minutes | 20 |
| A helpful reply within an hour | 14 |
| A reply the same day | 8 |
| A reply the next day or later, or no reply | 0 |
Lineup (15 points)
The total channel count matters less than whether what you want is included, and whether it’s included on the plan you’re buying.
| What you find | Points |
|---|---|
| Everything, including sport, 4K and on-demand, on every plan | 15 |
| Everything, but only on more expensive tiers | 8 |
| Key categories missing or charged as add-ons | 0 |
Picture quality (10 points)
How to test it: Switch between five or six channels and time how long each takes to start. Then find a 4K channel on a 4K TV and look closely at fast motion.
| What you see | Points |
|---|---|
| Channels start in 1–2 seconds; 4K is sharp and smooth | 10 |
| Channels start in 3–5 seconds; 4K looks good | 6 |
| Slow to start; “4K” looks no better than HD | 0 |
Setup help (10 points)
| What’s available | Points |
|---|---|
| Step-by-step guides for your device, plus help on chat | 10 |
| Generic instructions, help by email only | 5 |
| Nothing, or “search YouTube” | 0 |
Fair terms (10 points)
| What you find | Points |
|---|---|
| Written refund window and no automatic renewal | 10 |
| Refund window, but the plan renews automatically | 6 |
| No refund policy, or unclear terms | 0 |
Price (5 points)
Price gets the fewest points on purpose. A few pounds a month makes very little difference if the service works, and a lot of difference if it doesn’t.
| Price for 12 months | Points |
|---|---|
| £40–£60 (realistic for a well-run service) | 5 |
| £60–£90 | 3 |
| Under £30, or “lifetime” deals | 0 |
Very cheap scores zero here because it almost always means the reliability score will suffer too. Our guide to cheap IPTV warning signs explains why.
What the total means
| Score | Verdict |
|---|---|
| 85–100 | Excellent. Commit to a longer plan with confidence. |
| 70–84 | Good. Worth trying on a one-month plan first. |
| 50–69 | Risky. Expect problems at busy times. |
| Below 50 | Walk away. |
How to run a fair test
- Pick two or three providers that pass the basics in our buying checklist.
- Ask each for a demo, or buy their shortest plan.
- Test them at the same time, on the same TV and the same broadband connection, so the comparison is fair.
- Fill in the scorecard for each one straight after testing, while it’s fresh.
- Choose the highest score, then move to a longer plan to get the best monthly price.
Score us too
We’d rather you choose us because we scored well than because of a slogan. You can ask for a live demo on WhatsApp on your own device and broadband, at the busiest time you like, or start with a one-month plan that comes with a 7-day refund. Then fill in the card.
